Shri Sai Sahasranamam

Usually a person is identified with one name. But God is having either asthotaram or sahasra namam. Astotharam means 108 names. These are not simple names, they are the characterstics of that God. Every God will have these and one should perform puja by understanding these names and visualising the meaning of that name, then automatically bliss will be bestowed upon the person who is doing the puja. Now if somebody is not satisfied with the glory of God by simple 108 names (asthotaram), then they will go for sahasranamam. God is infinite and it is impossible to count the glories of god. In sanskrit sahasra means infinite. But for our satisfaction, since we cant sing the glory of God who is infinite, we take the count to be 1000 (thousand) and sing that many names. Among the Sahasra namams Vishnu sahasra namam and lalitha sahasra namam are the two most prominent ones which are sung by most of the people and which are considered to be wish-fulfilling stotrams. Those who sing them with faith and devotion  are blessed with what they are asking for. Since for a devotee his guru is the form of all Gods. singing the glory of guru is equivalent to singing the glory of a god. Guru is the one who fulfills all the desires of his disciples, it is must for a disciple to sing the glory of his guru. It will be much beneficial if one understands the meaning of each name and then sing the sahasranamam. One who sings with faith and devotion is blessed with blisss apart from the worldly desires and can sure get the blessings of Guru. Let everyone understand this with the blessings of Baba.
